Public Humiliation For Telemarketers

Telemarketers truly are one of the downfalls of owning a phone. Nonetheless, like all nuisances, telemarketers can be dealt with effectively if you know the right steps to take.

The first step, of course, is to try and limit the number of telemarketing firms who call your phone. This can be done by registering your number with the National Do Not Call Registry, and asking telemarketing firms to place you on their company specific do not call list.

The second step is to file a complaint against telemarketers who break the law. You will know if a telemarketer is making illegal phone calls by learning your privacy rights from the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). If a telemarketer breaks the law, file an official complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

However, sometimes complaining about a telemarketer to the FCC and FTC simply isn’t enough. Unfortunately, there are certain disreputable telemarketing firms that simply will not stop calling or harassing telephone consumers regardless of what actions they take. Therefore, the best way you can find justice against these telemarketers is by publicly damaging their reputation as best as you can.

How can you publicly humiliate a telemarketer? Access the internet, go to a search engine or directory, and look up different keyword phrase, such as “caller complaints”. Visit as many of these phone call complaining sites as you can, so you can post your complaint about the telemarketing calls you have received.

In your complaint include all of the details you can remember such as:

- The phone number

-The name of the telemarketing firm or telemarketer who called

- What the phone call was about (I.E. what they were selling)

- How many times they’ve called

- Etc.

What you will likely discover is that you are not the only one who has made a complaint against this telemarketer or telemarketing company. Thus, not only will you get to vent your frustrations, but you will discover you’re not alone in your fight to make the calls stop.

How will the telemarketer be publicly humiliated by your complaints? It depends on the telemarketing firm, but imagine how shameful it would be if a telemarketing company looks up their name in a search engine only to discover there are hundreds of complaints about them! The more the complaints, the less likely they will want to call you back. Thus, by making such complaints you are helping to stop telemarketing calls from bothering you and other phone users.
